Back Asswards America

Remember NAFTA…The North American Free Trade Agreement? It was sold to the American people as a way to slam the door on illegal immigration — since Mexico would then have more jobs in their own country. No need for Mexicans to sneak across the border.

Did it work? No! But it did cause U.S. businesses to pull up stakes in this country and head south of the border to take advantage of the cheap labor. Hundreds of thousands of U.S. jobs exported to Mexico. That was the “giant sucking sound” Ross Perot warned us about.

In China, with an exploding population and a huge unemployment problem, it looked to be quite a goldmine for U.S. businesses with absolutely no loyalty to America or American workers. Million more American jobs and factories were shipped to China. The Kaiser steel mill in Fontana, California (where I went to Jr. High) is no longer there. The steel mill was dismantled and shipped to China.

Folks, name any other country in the world, other than the United States, which allowed its leaders to deliberately dismantle its industrial base and ship it overseas.

I’ve visited many countries overseas while in the Navy. The primary source of transportation for people in those countries such as the Philippines, Korea, Vietnam was either a bicycle, motor scooter…or walking. Now, in those emerging countries, bicycles and motor scooters are being replaced by –you guessed it–cars!

Now, look around you in this country; cars are being replaced by bicycles and motor scooters. And were you surprised when you saw the photograph in the news of the farmer here in the United States, plowing his field with two mules, while his tractor sat idle?

I’ll ask the question again: Can you name any other country in the world, other than the United States, which allowed its leaders to deliberately dismantle its industrial base and ship it overseas?
