Senate Passes Nation’s Strongest Illegal Immigration Reform Bill

Columbia, SC - Senator Jim Ritchie (R-Spartanburg) and the South Carolina Senate unanimously passed the “toughest illegal immigration reform bill in the nation.” The bill passed is a tight net of
enforceable provisions that will capture willful violators. The bill contains the most stringent fines in the nation, which are designed to drive illegal aliens out of South Carolina.

The bill creates the South Carolina Verify method, a state verification system with aggressive enforcement provisions that will be monitored and checked by South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulations. As opposed to federal E-Verify, SC Verify gives the state the authority to enforce citizenship requirements and scrutinize the legal status of all South Carolina workers. The new state verification system is the first of its kind in the nation.

“This bill establishes the most aggressive illegal immigration reform law in the nation,” says Senator Ritchie. “It provides for E-Verify along with S.C. Verify, which enables state government to investigate
and penalize businesses that hire illegal aliens and does not allow employers to hide behind the federal I-9.”

Senator Ritchie has spent the last two years promoting the importance of this issue to South Carolinians. Earlier this session, Senator Ritchie introduced legislation that for the first time included private employer verification as part of illegal immigration reform.

“I am happy to let our citizens know that thanks to the perseverance of Senators Ritchie, Campsen and Sheheen, the Senate has passed the toughest illegal immigration bill in the nation with stringent rules, audits and penalties,” says Senate President Pro Tempore Senator Glenn McConnell (R-Charleston). “ We have sent a signal to illegal immigrants that their presence in South Carolina will not be met with indifference, but instead with strong laws and vigilant enforcement.”

The bill will receive a final vote in the Senate tomorrow before being sent to the House of Representatives for consideration.

Oklahoma Unemployment Is Way Down. Will Media Look into Why?

Oklahoma’s unemployment rate, which was a seasonally adjusted 4.3% and 4.4%, respectively, in September and October 2007 (4.1% and 4.2% unadjusted), has fallen to a seasonally adjusted 3.1% in both February and March of this year (3.5% and 3.2% unadjusted).

The unemployment rate in most states has gone up from September 2007 to March 2008. In states where the rate has gone down, none has shown an improvement like that seen in the Sooner State — not even close. Why is that?

What has happened in Oklahoma that hasn’t happened elsewhere?

Well, one thing Oklahoma did last year was to pass an enforcement-focused immigration reform law, mandating that employers use E-Verify.

Oklahoma did so in May, 2007, and it took effect in November, 2007. Just a few months later, oklahoma now has the 4th lowest unemployment rate among all states!!

When will this law go into effect??

This will lead to a second civil war. Some states like California and New Mexico will resist and may break off the union over this. Illegals will move and settle into sanctuary states and will increase their influence and political power there while in other states they will lose it. States that require photo ID will resist, others like California, Illinois, etc. will continue to accept the “dishonor” system to retain illegal and dead voters. Just like slavery, the emotions and positions are strong enough to pick up a gun over. It’s just a matter of time before this war breaks out. Get ready, the Feds will simply watch it happen.

Jimi

War will break out if the fence is not bulit and the Illegals are not sent home! This is our country and we say who comes in and who stays out! IT IS THE LAW!

Civil rights as nothing to do with ILLEGAL!!!1

Hats of to SC &OK Senators,See what happen when the public voters get the right people in Office. That make me very happy when I see positive things happening.I feel there is still some AMERICA left

Don’t go congratulating SC for anything yet. This bill has no teeth and Sen Ritchie saw to that. He has been telling his constituents one thing and doing just the opposite when in chambers. As for the stringent fines, what a joke! The first offense is only $100, that will come out of petty cash for most offenders. This entire bill is a joke, but what can you expect when the politicians had help writing it from the State Chamber of Commerce, the Ag Workers Union and the biggest offender in my county, Burroughs & Chapin. The citizens of this state will make sure that those that let this pass as it is will have a rough time getting re-elected in November. The message to all politicians, “Stop pandering to the illegal’s and start taking care of the citizens.”

Very Disappointed Citizen of South Carolina

I read the Bill! Whos Sen Ritchie trying to fool?
The fine is a Joke and from what I have read doesn’t even go into effect 2010. We will have 50,000 anchor babies by 2010,they’re all pregnant!!!!!! They are letting B&C run this state. Wake up SC!!!!! Make your leaders work for you not illegals and corrupt business owners. The Federal E-Verify is free, the SC verify is a joke they have no such way of checking if these people are illegals. Vote anyone who passed this bill out of office. All of them have sold their souls to the devil!!!!!!!!
