Scottsdale Police Refuse To Arrest Illegal Aliens
In an act that will surely make people even more upset, Scottsdale Police Chief Alan Rodbell recently stated that he would not use his police force to round-up illegal aliens in sweeps being coordinated by Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Illegal immigration is the #1 issues to many Scottsdale and area residents, yet the police chief steadfastly refuses to enforce the law and crack down on illegal immigrants in Scottsdale.
Scottsdale police Chief Alan Rodbell told a crowd of residents Thursday that it would not be the best use of his department’s resources to participate in Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s sweeps for illegal immigrants.
Rodbell made the comment after he was asked the question from the audience during the monthly Mayor and City Council breakfast at which Rodbell was the featured speaker.
Stressing he did not want to take shots in the newspaper, Rodbell said of Arpaio’s sweeps: “That’s the sheriff’s business. He sees that this is something that needs to be addressed on a countywide basis, and he is the county sheriff. …”
However, the police department would “appreciate notification” from any agency intending to conduct law enforcement activities in Scottsdale, wrote police spokesman Dave Pubins in an e-mail after the Tribune requested more information about Rodbell’s position.
The e-mail did not specifically address the sheriff’s office.
Earlier this month, Mesa police Chief George Gascón requested notification from Arpaio if he plans to conduct any operations in the city so his department could help minimize any civil unrest when sweeps happen.
Rodbell said if someone arrested in the city is determined to be an illegal immigrant, the department would contact Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“Handling immigration issues is not the best use of our resources,” Rodbell said during his talk. “The problem has to be stopped by strengthening our borders and ports.”
About 75 people attended Rodbell’s talk at City Hall. The chief said crime rates in the city have decreased by double digits in most categories, which is attributed to vigilant residents and police targeting repeat offenders.
“You go to work in an office, and they go to work in your house,” Rodbell said of criminals. “We know who these guys are, and they know we know them, and they know we’re watching them.
“They’re the ones doing the most damage,” he said. “And when we get them off the streets, our crime rates go down and our case clearance rates go up.”

This Rodbell is a bonehead..How many criminal acts do illegals have to do before our laws are enforced ? Enforce the laws and protect the citizens of America. These laws are on the books, Who are you to dictate what laws you want to enforce ?
I like this. I like this because so many cowardly Californians moved to Scottsdale Arizona, rather than clean up the mess in California, which used to be a paradise before massive illegal immigration. This should be a lesson and a warning to all Americans–there is no place to hide from illegal immigration. Decide now, if you want a first world or third world nation, or the elites will decide for you, and we know what their choice would be. You know, all that cheap labor and no middle class. Just keep playing around folks.
This police chief, like Gascon in Mesa, and like countless “police” chiefs in California, is in open rebellion against the Constitution of the State of Arizona and his own oath of office - because he has now decided which laws he intends to enforce.
And that is not his decision to make. He swore - as a condition of appointment - to enforce all laws. Since Federal law is supreme over the States, he is required - not asked - to enforce those laws as well, should he suspect they are being broken by someone he becomes aware of.
And since he is in rebellion and malfeasant, he should be stripped of his position and authority pending an investigation and possibly a trial for criminal malfeasance.
It is because of police chiefs like him, who now believe themselves to be the makers of laws, that many people in Arizona and other states have been murdered, terrorized, intimidated and stolen from by illegal aliens who respect no laws.
He should be thrown in jail himself for his arrogance and truculence in refusing to enforce the law.

Please urge Governor Napolitano to approve the Enforcement Bill
Report Commentby Buzz M. @ 2:05pm - Mon Apr 28th, 2008
The measure directs local police and county sheriffs to implement a program to address immigration violations. But that provision would be satisfied in any of three ways: by having a portion of the police force undergo immigration training through an agreement with the federal government, embedding Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers within the local agency or “establishing operational relationships” with ICE. If signed by Napolitano, the measure would also prohibit any local policy that bars counties and municipalities from inquiring about an individual’s immigration status if they’re arrested or seeking a government benefit, service or license only available to legal citizens.

Eric is bang on! This police chief is no better than the Socialist Mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsome, who has come out vocally against any enforcement of the nation’s Fed. Immigration laws, declaring SF a “sanctuary city”. One wonders when Chertoff and the FBI are going to arrest these so-called “leaders” for refusing to adhere to and openly defying Federal law and for leaving their cities unprotected. If Ahnold had any cojones, he’d call out the National Guard, but he’s in bed with Bush with regards to thje Invasion by Mexico. Whatta mess!

Since police chiefs are appointed, Scottsdale residents can’t vote this do nothing doofus out. However, they can do some slammin’ to the city council and mayor/city manager. Tell these people how disgusted you are with Rodbell’s selective enforcement of the law.
