Robbery Suspect Dies Following Shooting
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An armed robbery suspect, who was shot and critically wounded Saturday night after an employee opened fire at a small grocery store, has died.
He was identified as 22-year-old Ronel Utile.
Orange County Sheriff’s investigators said that two masked men tried to rob the Mi Bodega Latina Grocery on Old Cheney Highway just after 8p.m.
After the employee shot one of the men, customers wrestled the suspect to the ground.
The other suspect fled the store and took off with another man who was in a car outside the store.
Deputies closed down Old Cheney Highway for a time as they searched for the two remaining suspects.
The wounded man was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he died Sunday morning.
Investigators said they did not anticipate filing charges against the shooter.
