Some of my best friends are black people

Or gay, or foreign, or illegal or whatever. We’ve all heard it said at one time or another and inside, there is a little cringe because it’s idiotic.

Well today we’ll take it to new heights.

Michelle Obama almost says “Some of my best friends are poor people” when she notes that

It wasn’t until Barack Obama wrote a pair of best-selling books that he and his wife escaped their student loan debt, an experience Michelle Obama said Tuesday helps the couple understand everyday challenges better than policymakers in Washington.
“We are not so far away from life that we don’t understand and get it,” said Michelle Obama, wife of the Democratic presidential candidate.

Yes, Michelle, owing on student loans and being broke are very, very similar. ?

I didn’t have much to say about Michelle, but today when that little tidbit matches so well to Obama noting that

“Some of my best friends are Muslims/foreigners/poor” when he cite his “experience”.

To counter opponents’ accusations that he lacks experience in foreign policy, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois often cites his ties to relatives in poor villages in Kenya and the years he spent growing up in Indonesia. Now he has added a new personal detail to that résumé: a trip to Pakistan while a college student.

Yes, Barack, being age six in Indonesia would give you a very deep understanding of poverty there.

I know when I was six and sharing a room with all my siblings and playing with cardboard boxes and pots and pans I really took notice that my parents were broke. The point being - I don’t remember or even care. I certainly wouldn’t believe that I had a connection with other growing families of hard working dads and stay at home moms simply because I was in one.
