World-Renowned Behavioral Scientist Stabbed

Santa Fe police have arrested the man who they say stabbed a doctor who had just finished giving a speech at a gathering of medical professionals.

It happened around 3:15 Wednesday afternoon at the La Fonda hotel.

Witnesses said Doctor Rupert Sheldrake of London, a world renowned behavioral scientist, was wrapping up a speech when a man suddenly made his way to the stage.

“As it was over, he ran up there, pulled out a knife, and stabbed him. And it’s a good thing he was up on a podium, because if he wasn’t he could’ve gotten it right in the heart,” said Doctor David Edwards.

Witnesses said it appeared Sheldrake was stabbed in the thigh, right above the kneecap.

Police said the injury is not life-threatening.

Witnesses say 33-year-old Hirano Kazuki apparently became upset during the talk by Sheldrake of on “thought transference.”
