I hope Santa shits in their stocking

A story like this makes me want to vomit….I would wager a guess that it was probably a few stupid teenagers that thought it would be funny….try to burn an American Flag around a veteran and see how funny it is.

Not only should this be looked as vandalism, but also needs to be reported to the FBI as an act of terrorism, destruction of Govt Property; since it was committed on Federal Property.

Follow Up: NORTHAMPTON - Northampton police have arrested a man in connection with a string of flag burnings around western Massachusetts. Sixty-five-year-old Douglas Wight was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon and charged with trespassing and defacing personal property.
A typewritten note left at the home and signed by the “American Patriot Liberation Front” claimed the United States was oppressing millions of people around the world.

Similar incidents were reported in Palmer, Greenfield and Amherst.

Investigators allege that a search of Wight’s truck turned up items connected to the flag burnings, including a copy of the “Liberation Front” letter.

A symbol of American pride went up in smoke in Greenfield, MASS.

GREENFIELD — Someone burned a U.S. flag Monday night after lowering it from the post office flag pole and tossing it into a nearby dumpster.

Police, and fire investigators are looking into the arson.

According to Greenfield Deputy Fire Chief Robert Strahan, firefighters were called to the parking lot of the Main Street post office just before 8 p.m. for a fire on the west side of the building.

When the firefighters put out the blaze in the trash container, they found that someone had taken down the flag that flies in front of the post office and burned it in the Dumpster along with the trash.

Strahan said the vandals left a note on the side of the dumpster but would not comment on it due to the ongoing investigation.

Robert Boisselle of the Postal Service communications office, said that the flag that flies over the Greenfield Post Office is 5 feet by 9½ feet.

”The Greenfield Post Office does not have any sort of locking mechanism over the lanyard used to hoist the flag. It’s just tied off to the cleat on the pole,” he said.

According to Boisselle, the post office received no threats concerning the flag and no one has contacted them claiming responsibility.

”Postal inspectors have been made aware of the incident. Right now, we are considering it an act of vandalism,” he said.

The Postal Service says it has no record of previous incidents of the vandalism to flags at the Greenfield post office.

The Post Office has replaced the flag.
